The Mascots

Name: Sombra (Malamutt)
Species: Domestic Dog (Alaskan Malmute/Finnish Spitz)
Gender: Female
Age: (Human Years) 22 (Dog Years) 3

I don't believe it's fair to say that Sombra's a mascot of this blog and solely for this blog.  She is my fursona (or furred persona for those not familiar with the lingo of the furry fandom).  A character created to represent me.  And thus her personality and interests mirror my own for the most part.  So if I must sum up her personality a bit, she's generally shy and quiet.  Seemingly difficult to speak with unless you start with the right subject.  She's most at home with her small group of friends.

But, Sombra's personality does differ from mine as well.  Even though she's still shy and quiet, she's a bit more outgoing than I am.  And her outlook on the world is a bit more uplifting.  But for the most part she shares my personality and interests.  And since her interests mirror my own that means she's interested in/likes:
  • Anime
  • Animation (in general; mostly on the 2D end of the spectrum)
  • Super Sentai and Kamen Rider (despite being a relatively new fan)
  • J-music
  • Writing
  • Drawing
  • Singing
  • Paranormal things (despite being a skeptic and despite being terrified of ghosts)
  • Spirituality (despite not being very spiritual)
  • Ramen
  • Pocky
  • Ramune
  • Ice Cream (Aisu, Aisu, A-I-SU)
  • Cosplay (even though she's a newbie at it)
And she dislikes...:
  • Rudeness
  • Prejudice (of any kind, petty or not)
  • Bullies
  • Her jealous streak
  • Proselytizing
  • Blatant hypocrisy
  • School (all school)
For the most part I draw her as a regular dog.  But every now and then she gets the anthropomorphic treatment or humanoid treatment.  And when she gets the anthro or human treatment, that's when she's portrayed with more human interests.  Like cosplaying, singing and the like.  As a "regular dog" I still consider her anthropomorphic in the sense that she's very self aware (think...a Lion King form of anthropomorphism...walks on all fours but talks and behaves in a human manner).  So she retains interests in specific foods or TV shows like this as well.

Every now and then I'll draw her either cosplaying or bothering the heck out of some anime/tokusatsu characters.

Name: Literal TaToBa
Species: "Chimera" (Red Tailed Hawk, Tiger, Grasshopper)
Gender: Male

He was a spur of the moment creation brought on by what I felt at the time was a rather silly idea.  All the combos in OOO are animal based.  Why not combine the three animals to make a literal version of what they are?  So I did.  It was a fun drawing and I didn't think much of it until I'd completely finished the flat colors for him.  I'd actually fallen in love with the design.  And soon afterwards I decided that he'd be one of the mascots for this blog.

I guess you can say he's a bit of a "dual mascot".  For the toku side of things since he's a literal representation of the TaToBa combo in OOO and for the furry side because...well he's a chimera type crossbreed.

Clearly his body type doesn't allow for him to move comfortably on all fours.  The hindlegs are twice as long as the front legs so typically he stands on his hindlegs.  Hopping is his generally mode of transportation.  Or rather a pseudo-hopping motion.  The back legs move as if they're hopping.  When landing on his tiger paws, they move as if they're running.  Walking is generally done on just his hindlegs.

Mirroring it's abilities as the TaToBa combo, his hawk eyes are good for seeing small details at long distances.  His tiger claws, of course, are good for slashing and physical attacks.  The legs provide power for jumping long distances at high speeds and "kicking" (probably more like a horse kicks).

Personality wise, he's actually rather playful.  In the sense that he's very optimistic.  Sure he knows that some might think that he physically looks awkward, but he doesn't really care.  He isn't very confrontational and would rather solve any conflicts without physical violence if he can.  He'll only resort to fighting if he desperately must.

What he likes:
  • Fish
  • Mice
  • Hopping
  • Sunbathing
  • Playing
  • His Friends
  • Relaxing
  • Swimming
  • Forests/Wooded areas
  • Defending the defenseless
What he dislikes:
  • Confrontation
  • Violence
  • Not being able to fly
  • Cities
  • Swamps
  • Seeing others being picked on/hurt
As with most creature characters I'll draw, he can be drawn as is or in an anthropomorphic style.
